Privacy Policy

TAGALONG is operated by in Rexburg, Idaho. This policy explains what we collect, who can see it, and how to delete it. The short version: we keep as little as we can, we never keep copies of your ID or insurance, and we never sell your information.
What we collect
- From Facebook when you sign in: your first name, the first letter of your last name, and your profile photo. Our login provider (Google Firebase) also receives your Facebook user ID and may receive your email address. We don't show your email to anyone or use it for marketing.
- Phone number, if you confirm one. It's stored by our login provider and never shown to other users.
- For drivers: your vehicle's description and plate, your insurance card's expiration month, and how to reach you for your driver check.
- What you post and do: rides, requests, seat bookings, messages, ratings, reports, and feedback.
- Basic technical data our providers log to keep the service running, and your browser type if you send feedback.
What we never keep
- Photos or copies of your ID, driver's license, or insurance card. Our team looks at them once, in person or on a video call, and saves only a checkmark and your insurance expiration month.
- Your driver's license number.
- Your Facebook friends, posts, or messages. We never post to Facebook.
- Payment details. Riders pay drivers directly.
Who can see what
- Anyone visiting TAGALONG: your first name and last initial, photo, badges, ratings, vehicle description, and the rides and requests you post.
- Riders a driver approves: that driver's license plate.
- The people in a chat: the messages in that chat.
- The TAGALONG team: reports, feedback, driver-check contact details, and what we need to keep people safe.
How we use it
We use your information to run the ride board, show who you're riding with, check drivers, send in-app alerts, respond to reports, and improve TAGALONG during the beta. We don't sell your information and we don't show ads.
Service providers
TAGALONG runs on Google Firebase (login and database) and uses Facebook Login from Meta. Our website host and Google Fonts receive standard web request data. Each handles data under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, private details, and open requests, and cancel your upcoming rides. We may keep safety reports and the record of a ban as long as needed to keep people safe or to meet legal obligations.

Age
TAGALONG is only for people 18 and older. If we learn someone under 18 has an account, we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll tell you in the app.
