Terms of Service
Last updated October 1, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and TAGALONG, operated by in Rexburg, Idaho. By using TAGALONG you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use TAGALONG.
1. What TAGALONG is
TAGALONG is an online ride board. People who are already making a trip post their empty seats, and people who need a ride can ask to share the trip and its costs. TAGALONG is not a transportation company. We don't provide rides, employ or contract drivers, set fares, or handle payments. Every ride is an arrangement between the driver and the riders.
2. Who can use TAGALONG
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must sign in with your own real Facebook account and keep your information accurate.
- One account per person. Don't share your account or sign in as someone else.
- We can suspend or remove any account at any time, especially for safety reasons.
3. Sharing costs, not selling rides
TAGALONG is only for sharing the cost of a trip the driver is already taking. Drivers may ask riders to chip in toward gas and wear, and nothing more.
- The total a driver collects for a trip can't be more than the trip's cost cap shown in the app. The cap is the route's miles times 76 cents, the IRS's 2026 standard mileage rate, for the whole car.
- Drivers can't ask for more than their posted price, add fees, or make a profit.
- Drivers can't offer rides for hire, take street hails, or use TAGALONG as a taxi or delivery service.
4. Drivers
If you post a ride, you promise that:
- You have a valid driver's license and the vehicle is legally registered.
- You carry auto insurance that meets your state's requirements, and you've confirmed with your insurer that it covers carpools where riders share costs.
- Your vehicle is safe to drive, and you'll follow traffic laws and drive sober.
- You'll only ask riders to share costs as described in section 3.
5. Riders
- Show up on time at the agreed public pickup spot, or cancel in the app as early as you can.
- Pay the driver the share shown in the app, directly and as agreed.
- Treat the driver, other riders, and the vehicle with respect.
6. Payments
Riders pay drivers directly by Venmo, Zelle, cash, or another method they agree on. TAGALONG is not a party to these payments, doesn't collect or hold money, and can't issue refunds or settle payment disputes.
7. Checks and badges
Badges show what TAGALONG or its partners checked, and only that. For example, "ID checked" means our team looked at a photo ID and confirmed it matched the person. TAGALONG does not run criminal background checks. Badges are not a promise that anyone is safe or that information is accurate. Use your own judgment about who you ride with, and don't get in a car if something feels wrong.
8. What's not allowed
- Harassment, threats, discrimination, or unwanted contact.
- Fake profiles, scams, spam, or advertising.
- Illegal items or activity, including driving impaired.
- Collecting other users' information or using TAGALONG for any commercial purpose we haven't approved.
9. Your content
You're responsible for what you post, including rides, requests, messages, and ratings. You give TAGALONG permission to display and store it to run the service. We can remove content or accounts that break these terms.
10. Safety and reports
In an emergency, call 911. Then report the problem in the app. We review reports and may suspend accounts, but we can't guarantee any outcome and we don't supervise rides.
11. Beta
TAGALONG is in beta. Features may change, break, or be removed, and data may be reset. We'll try to warn you about big changes.
12. Disclaimers
TAGALONG is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises about the service, any user, any ride, or the accuracy of anything posted.
13. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, TAGALONG and its operator aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for anything that happens during a ride or between users. Our total liability for any claim related to TAGALONG is limited to $100.
14. Release and indemnity
Rides happen between users. To the fullest extent the law allows, you release TAGALONG and its operator from claims arising from your dealings with other users. You agree to cover any claims against TAGALONG that come from your use of the service or your breaking these terms.
15. Changes
We may update these terms. If we make a big change, we'll tell you in the app. Using TAGALONG after a change means you accept the new terms.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Madison County, Idaho.
